What the CRAP!!!!

Ok in one day things just happen to somewhat blow up for the media. Some things I don’t get and other things that I know are already going to irritate me in the same way sweaty underwear does on hot day. To much info….sorry, but it is true. Anyway back to a few stories that are all over the news in the past 24 hours. First Tropical “I want to be a hurricane” Storm Alberto. I mean serious what the crap is this all about? After Katrina all of a sudden every storm that develops is going to draw this much attention. If have to sit through the entire alphabet of storms this season and listen to moron weather guys standing in blistering rain, wind, and cold tell me that a sail boat is anchored in the harbor; I just might shoot myself. No seriously, I wish they would just pretend to get swept away and win themselves their Journalism of the Year Award which should actually be called the “I am moron and went to a evacuated area and tried to make out with hurricane award”. We are only on “A”…AAAGGGGHHHH!!!!

Then I don’t know how many of you watch Bush address the troops in Iraq today but what an impressive showing. I am not going to talk about what he said or didn’t say because in reality it doesn’t matter. He could have showed up and talked about his drinking, his college girlfriends, and his pheasant hunting and the soldiers still would have been happy to see him. Most of you can’t relate because you aren’t a soldier nor have you been there. But the point I am trying to make is no matter what you feel about our President and no matter what the soldiers thought about it, their morale was increased great deal by his presence. You could hear it in their cheers and applause with some of his comments. I could be wrong, and Ray could probably correct me…but I don’t think a President in our time has gone into a war zone with in the “enemy lines” like he did. I know some have been in the “rear” or safe havens of some sort but I don’t think any where they were in danger. So I thank him for that.

Now onto the two biggest morons of the past 24 hours. Two sports figures. I am not talking about the attention getting bed wetter like Terrel Owens, Ray Lewis, Barry Bonds, Shaq etc… I am talking about our “American Hero Sports Figures” in Big Ben and JJ Redick. How do you go from winning the super bowl to throwing yourself onto the pavement with out a helmet on just because you “don’t ride stupid” and “it doesn’t look good” to wear one! What the crap man. Your career could potentially be over because you are a communist b@&ta$rd. That is ok though, I really think his plan was to just have an excuse to wear a beard. Now you have one of my favorite all time college basketball players. A guy I have seen play in person and even played against once in a summer league. Mr. JJ. Who is 21 and decides to drink and drive. A kid that in an ESPN article talks about turning his life around and finding God again. This kid has the world before, first round draft pick, shattered records in the ACC, one many player of the year awards and he decides to drink then drive, the void the cops and try to get away. WHAT THE CRAP ARE YOU THINKING!!! I hate morons, I hate them. Seriously does anyone have an explanation.

the midnight sun

I tell you what the AK is proving to be interesting. So muh so that I am not really looking forward to the winter. Why? Well, you see the day never get dark here. We are pushing 20 plus hours of daylight. Now, this is not bright sunny day the whole time but light enough that you don't need your lights on and you can see almost the entire night No flashlights needed, no porch lights, and definitely thick curtains for your sleep. I am not sleeping. The light out here almost has the same affect that casinos or clubs do. You know how there are no windows so you really don't know what time it is and you can only judge the lateness by the weight of your wallet through out the night. Same affect here. I mean at 11 PM it is still light enough that you can go out and play frisbee golf and go for a walk or run or hike and not have to worry about not finding yourself home. At the same time, your body doesn't think it is bedtime because it is still late out. Almost like the sun soaks up through your skin and makes you a daywalker. It is awesome, yet so frustrating at times. The AK is great, I am loving it up here and I strongly encourage each of you to come for a visit...before the darkness sets it. At that point I will count on the North Star to show me the way.

Ray Ray

Today is a good day and as it comes to end in many parts of the world it has been concluded already in other parts. Today is one of those special days, a Bday, of a good friend. The only thing about it, is that he announces is birthday lie 4 months in advance so we have no choice but to remember what 07 June brings each year. Now don’t get me wrong, this guy is one of my best friends. He recently wrote an article on what a friend is to him and I am honored to be a part of his life in that manor. He too is a man that has driven half across the US to see a friend back from Iraq for just 16 hours. He as driven miles to carry someone or some things just because someone asked. He is perhaps one of the best leaders our military has ever seen. The Army has no idea what they are going to be missing, but perhaps they do because they continue to badger him to stay. But I respect his decision to start a new chapter in his life; in so many areas. God, friendship, career, family and even his dog. I love pushing his buttons becaue they kid has made my cry from laughing so hard when he goes on his rants on his soap box. Kill'n me. Now I am the farthest thing from gay but I love this guy like a brother. I always know I can count on him for anything from advice to money. He is a dude that I look up to on so many levels and it is a good thing that I got him beat in the looks. I mean I can’t blame him because he is half Mexican and half Czech. That is why we called him Chex-Mex…face it…he is a mutt. But the kind of mutt that everyone wants to take home from the pound. Happy birthday my third world country brother! Love you man!

Battle of the Bulge

I think it is only fair that I share this with everyone. Many have heard about, many still spit milk through their nose when they remember it...but those that were there, saw it and nearly fell over from laughter and possibly fear need to be reminded. Just today I was trying to track down some old pictures and ran across it and knew it was time for picture to be published. This happened when I was on leave from Iraq the first time. My boys Mike and Ray came into town to do some 4wheel'n. The problem was the day before I was working outside and didn't wear sunscreen. I mean I was in Iraq, I am not going to get burned...that was my first mistake. I got burned. And when I say burned...I mean swoll up. See, when I was wearing the helmet while tearing through the mountains I had no idea what was developing underneathe. We stopped at a river to debate whether or not we were going to cross it and I slip, rather pull the helmet off. And my boys nearly fall over they are laughing so hard. So I snap a picture of myself so I can see what has their attention and this is what was unvailed. Enjoy my friends.

The Return from the AK

Well I think it is only fitting that I post a few pictures that were taken along my drive up here and a recent hike to an old mine. I have quickly found, as evident by one of the first pictures while driving north through the Yukon that this place has a lot to offer. I used to think that God’s beauty and work were the Alps…don’t get my wrong, but I have had the privilege of seeing another area that His hand has touched. Ray, I know what Iraq looks like and we have already established that he took a nap during that area of the world. However, the beauty the AK possess can not be explained. I only hope that each you take the time to come and visit. And yes that is the first brown bear I have seen, I am not sure what he meant when he stared at me but I am pretty sure it meant that he could eat me and no one would know. Now let explain something. Actually I don’t have anything to explain right now except for a simple complaint. I used to be somewhat frustrated with urinals that don’t have stalls or guards or what have you. Not because of peepers or something but I hated it when someone with a full bladder would let it go and I would get sprayed with their waste. By the way it is not sterile and Pegg shouldn’t have drank it that one time. Anyway, yes I am a stage freight guy. Not that I typically urinate in front of others but I have had my fair share of pee tests mainly because of my career not my usage. And with out fail I have to drink to moment of bursting and a bitter taste in my mouth before I can flow…and it is painful. Back to my point with the stalls, I have encountered a bigger issue. At one of my stops across North America (many stories to come) I stopped with the urge…to pee that is. I come in and there is one urinal in a public bathroom but it was no joke 6 inches from the only sink. No problem right…wrong. The toilet flushes in the pooper stall. A large, and by large I mean whale of a man, comes out and despite the fact I was already struggling for air decides to wash his hands. This is the one time I wish somebody wouldn’t have; much like Aaron. Nevertheless he begins to wash his hands. And I don’t know what language he was singing the birthday song in but he must have taken nearly a minute. Mind you my relaxed body state and normally easy flow as now ceased. Because he was touching me. Not in a “red light” kind of way but in the “he was large and his love handles were crowding my personal space” kind of way. I thought someone staring at you while relieving yourself was bad enough, but someone touching you whose bodily odor is still present in the room and taking 7 days to wash his hands; is perhaps the most uncomfortable and painful thing I have been through. Next to watching Aaron poop in the back of someone’s car…ask him about it.
I will be posting more soon, some pointless and some meaningless…I mean worth reading.

A Blurr

Well I am starting the final and probably largest leg of my journey today. I started in Germany and from here flew to Radford where I walked into people's homes with strawberry creame slushes and cups of coffee. I spoke to some nursing students and played some ball with the old summer fun gang; even planted some bushes with the dj. I then went to Georgia where i jumped out planes...ummm....yeah, and then picked up my car in Hotlanta and started the journey across North America. Stopping in Knoxville for a little bit of Jersey, on to Richmond KY for my little sissi, followed by dinner and brew at the Motor Speed way. Proceeded by a walk through the Windy City and lunch in Rochester MN. Continued by solving a murder, or having dinner in Fargo and another doughnut for lunch in Bismark. Spent a week at the place I find peace and solitude in Camp. The went to Turner Montana with mom and dad a brief stop off at home in Glasgow and back to Turner. I now leave this am to drive through Canada and the Yukon. There are many stories to tell of this journey and those will come out in a mini series perhaps. Maybe Enigma can produce it. Love you all, miss you all and will see you soon.
